Gemini Live and Connected Google Apps Now Support More Languages. Gemini Live is enhancing its functionality. In the upcoming weeks, you'll be able to interact with Gemini and have it perform tasks on your behalf in your preferred language.
OpenAI introduced a new lineup of AI models engineered to take additional time to process information before responding. These “o1”models are capable of reasoning through intricate tasks and tackling more challenging problems in areas such as science, programming, and mathematics compared to their predecessors.
Sam Altman: "Superintelligent" AI Just a Few Thousand Days Away. Altman anticipates that future advancements in AI will enable us to achieve feats that would have appeared magical to our grandparents.
Black Forest Labs (BFL), the startup established by the creators of the widely acclaimed Stable Diffusion AI image generation model—which powers numerous AI image generation applications and services like Midjourney—has announced the launch of a new, faster text-to-image model named Flux 1.1 Pro. Alongside this release, BFL is introducing a paid application programming interface (API) that allows developers to create third-party applications using the model or integrate it into their existing apps.
Meta unveils Llama 3.2 with Vision Capabilities to Compete with OpenAI and Anthropic. Meta has enhanced its large language models (LLMs) with visual understanding. At Meta Connect, the company introduced Llama 3.2, its first major vision-enabled model that can interpret both images and text.
🌏 Asia spotlight
Chinese scientists develop carbon nanotube TPU, claiming it’s highly energy efficient.
Kai-Fu Lee, former head of Google China, stated that Chinese AI models lag behind US by 6 to 9 months, but predicts that Chinese AI apps might grow faster than in the US by early next year.
Alibaba launches Qwen 2.5, a multilingual AI model with 72B parameters, released over 100 open-source AI models for various sectors aiming to boost competition with Baidu and Huawei, as well as US big techs like Microsoft and OpenAI.
Lenovo plans to manufacture AI servers in India and opened a new AI servers-focused R&D lab in Bengaluru, aiming to produce 50k units annually.
TikTok is developing its own AI GPUs, aiming to reduce reliance on Nvidia. TSMC will make both products that will enter mass production by 2026.
Alibaba and Nvida collaborate on advanced autonomous-driving solution, computing services.
